AURORA, Colo. - Police have reopened the ramp from northbound Interstate 225 to westbound Interstate 70 after it was closed for a fatal car crash.
Lt. Jeff Turner, of the Aurora Police Department, says several witnesses said the car drifted to the right as the roadway curved to the left. It rolled several times striking the end of the guardrail.
The only occupant was the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
7NEWS Photographer Brian Ferguson saw the overturned vehicle on a grassy hill beside the roadway. The bumper and one wheel had been torn off and the roof was crushed.
Because of the crash, northbound I-225 traffic was diverted to eastbound I-70 for about an hour.
Turner says speed it not suspected as a cause of this crash and it is currently unknown if the driver was intoxicated.
