A man wearing a clown mask robbed two stores on Monday morning, police confirmed.

The first robbery happened at the Express Food and Produce at Colfax and Tower Road just before six a.m. when a man armed with a handgun came inside.

The clerk said he kept looking at the gun to make sure it was real.

"It was real," the clerk said. "It was terrifying."

The gunman took the cash from the register, ran to a car outside the store and was driven away by a second person, the clerk said.

The clerk was shaken up, but not injured.

About two hours later, the clown-mask wearing suspect robbed a gas station at Sable and 28th, police said.

Aurora Police are searching for the two suspects. The only description they have is that one suspect is a black male and one is a white male. They are working to release surveillance video of the first incident.
