Aurora Police: Suspect arrested in beating that left victim, Ricky Thompson, on life support

AURORA, Colo. - Police on Tuesday night said they have arrested a suspect in the beating of an Aurora man who is not expected to survive his injuries.

Aurora  police identified the suspect  on Thursday as 28-year-old Daniel Lee Rice.

Police said Ricky Thompson was attacked on Aug. 14 by a man who repeatedly punched him in the head and torso in a parking lot near East Quincy Avenue and South Buckley Road. Thompson remains on life support and is not expected to survive, police said.

After the attack, the suspect was seen running northeast through the Safeway parking lot to East Princeton Drive. He turned east there and was last seen between 4198 and 4206 S. Richfield St., where police say he tried to make contact with two women in a minivan who had helped the victim immediately after the assault.
