Adriene Garcia, wife of Aurora's Fire Chief, suspected in hit-and-run crash that injured 2 children

AURORA, Colo. - The wife of Aurora's fire chief is suspected in a Wednesday night hit-and-run crash, police confirm.

Adriene Garcia is accused of crashing her black Nissan Pathfinder into the rear of a blue Hyundai sedan that was stopped for a red light at East Yale Avenue and South Peoria Street around 8:23 p.m.

Aurora police spokesman Frank Fania said two unrestrained children in the blue sedan were injured, one seriously.

Garcia allegedly drove away after the collision.

At about 10:44 p.m., investigating officers found the black Nissan at South Chambers Road and East Belleview Avenue. The evidence confirmed the SUV was the same one involved in the crash, Fania said.

Neither intoxication nor excessive speed are suspected factors in this crash. Fania said police expect to file felony charges against Garcia and are investigating a potential charge against the driver of the Hyundai who did not restrain his children.

7NEWS has confirmed Garcia is the spouse of Aurora Fire Chief Mike Garcia.
