ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. - An arrest warrant has been issued for a fugitive suspected in the shooting death of a young woman whose body was found in a vehicle in Adams County last weekend.
Miguel Angel Gonzales, 25, is wanted on a first-degree murder warrant that was issued based on information and evidence gathered during the homicide investigation, Adams County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Paul Gregory said Tuesday.
The body of 23-year-old Yajaira Zamarippa was found Sunday morning in a red Ford Expedition in a parking lot at 5211 Pecos St., Gregory said.
"The whole driver's side (of the SUV) was busted out," said Zach Lucero, whose family restaurant shares the parking lot where the SUV was found.
A deputy first noticed the Expedition before 6 a.m. Sunday, Gregory said. When he approached the SUV he found the woman's body. According to scanner traffic, the woman was shot multiple times and was cold to the touch.
Investigators soon focused on Gonzalez, whose vehicle was recovered Monday in the Denver.
Gonzales is described as a Hispanic male, who is 6-feet tall and weighs 215 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos on his arms, hands, chest, neck and abdomen.
Investigators ask anyone who has information on Gonzales' whereabouts to contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center at 303-288-1535 or Detective E. Brodheim at 720-322-1313.
