In the shadow of a soccer field, where six and nine year olds should be playing, friends instead offer prayers and tributes for two young children.
Nine-year-old Liam Murphy and his 6-year-old sister Madigan were found dead in their Castle Rock home on Monday.
Hundreds gathered at Founders Park in Castle Rock Thursday to remember the brother and sister and the joy and fun they brought to family and friends.
"They were just loving, said one family friend.
The focus was on what these siblings did during their short lives.
Liam loved race cars. As a strong math student, he was known for helping his classmates with homework.
Madigan made her mark with kindness and a strong sense of humor.
"She was hilarious She made people laugh. She had jokes all the time," said the friend.
Another memorial is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Heritage Church in Castle Rock.
