'Freaky goat' chases Utah paperboy up tree

SMITHFIELD, Utah -

A 14-year-old paperboy in Utah says he was headbutted off his bike, trampled and trapped in a tree by a "freaky" goat.

Jaxon Gessel was on his paper route in Smithfield, Utah before dawn earlier this week when the close encounter of a goat kind happened, the Deseret News reported.

"It just freaked me out when it stood up on its hind legs and just wrapped its front legs around me and pulled me off," Gessel told the newspaper.

The first inkling his parents had that something was wrong was when he didn't return from his paper route.  That's when police were called about a missing child.  Gessel said he tried to climb down but the goat just chased him back up the tree.

A police officer rescued Gessel after responding to a call about a boy in a tree.

Gessel said he's earned a new moniker in town: "goat boy."

"That was a freaky goat. I think it's like possessed or something," Gessel said of the pet goat.
