Former CU Prof. Ward Churchill Gets New Speech Venue

Churchill To Speak At Public Park In Grand Junction

A former University of Colorado professor initially invited to speak by a Grand Junction church only to have his invitation later revoked has been offered another venue.

The Daily Sentinel reported Monday that Ward Churchill will be speak at a Sherwood Park on Memorial Day.

Churchill was fired in 2007 after allegations of research misconduct. A university review of his work concluded he had plagiarized some writings.

The university was pressured to fire Churchill after he referred to the Sept. 11 victims as "little Eichmanns," a reference to Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi leader who helped orchestrate the Holocaust.

Churchill was initially invited speak at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Grand Valley by the Confluence Media Collective. The church withdrew its offer, saying it didn't want to offend military families with the event.
