Facebook outage prevented many from posting status updates on Monday

DENVER - Did you update your Facebook status this morning?

Thousands of people trying to post a status update on Monday morning got a message that said, "There was a problem updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes."

The intermittent problem lasted more than three hours. By 8:30 a.m. MT, 7NEWS viewers were starting to report that they could post without problems.

During the outage, 7NEWS viewers were able to send private messages to 7NEWS, but most could not hit like or post a comment on their pages.

Mashable reported that the problem appeared to be a global issue.

The Denver Post reported that the problem occured during network maintenance.

"Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time," a Facebook spokesman said in an e-mail. "We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.
