Fire crews have 90 percent containment of a 600-acre wildfire near the town of Elbert and all evacuations have been lifted, fire officials said about 4:50 p.m. Sunday.

About 3 p.m., a firefighter suffering chest pain was taken by ambulance to a hospital, fire officials said.

Evacuees were directed to the Elbert County Fair Grounds on Kiowa Bennett Road. Officials were also providing shelter to small and large animals at the fair grounds.

There are about 100 people working on the fire.
