Driver Arrested After Wild Police Chase

A high-speed police chase in Douglas County ended Sunday night when the driver lost control, ran off the road, and flipped his car.

The chase occurred ended just before 9:30 p.m. It started as normal traffic stop at Wagon Wheel Trail but the driver refused to stop and took off.

Police chased the suspect on northbound Interstate 25 as he was weaving in and out of traffic, traveling more than 100 mph at times, 7NEWS AirTracker Pilot Rich Westra said.

"We picked this pursuit up right around Castle Pines Parkway ... now we were flying, with the helicopter at about 125 mph just to catch up," Westra said.

The driver tried a few times to get off on some of the exits but when he finally exited I-25 and tried to negotiate a turn at Lincoln Avenue, he lost control, spun around and wiped out. The driver then got out and started running but officers chased him for about 50 yards until they caught up with him and wrestled him to the ground.

He was arrested and taken away by ambulance with minor injuries.

He was apparently not wearing pants, Westra said.
