Doug Bruce To Run For Office Again

Bruce Will Run For City Council In Colorado Springs

Anti-tax advocate Doug Bruce announced Wednesday he will run for City Council in Colorado Springs.

Bruce previously served as an El Paso County commissioner.

Bruce made the announcement at a noon press conference in downtown Colorado Springs.

Bruce was appointed as a state lawmaker in 2008. He refused to be sworn in until the legislature convened in January 2008 because he wanted to be eligible to serve eight years instead of six.

On that day, Bruce kicked a photographer and was later censured. He lost his re-election bid during a primary a few months later.

In 2009, Bruce was arrested in Colorado Springs when he was trying to get petition signatures at a Costco. A jury found him not guilty of misdemeanor trespassing.
