FORT COLLINS, Colo. – An MS-13 gang member wanted out of El Salvador in connection to a homicide was arrested Friday in Fort Collins after six days on the run following a brutal attack against a Fort Morgan woman last week.
Angel Ramos, 36, was on the run for six days before U.S. Marshals officials caught up to him, according to an official statement provided to Denver7.
Ramos, an undocumented immigrant and MS-13 gang member, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, second-degree assault, menacing with a deadly weapon, second-degree kidnapping, domestic violence and criminal impersonation following an attack against a Fort Morgan that took place on Nov. 4.
U.S. Marshal officials said Ramos stabbed the woman with a screwdriver at a home in the 3400 block of County Road X, before running over her leg after she jumped from a moving vehicle to escape and also tried to put her into the trunk of the vehicle before fleeing from authorities.
Officials issued a warrant out for this arrest four days later and the Fort Morgan Sheriff’s Office called on the United States Marshals Service to help hunt down the suspect.
On Friday, U.S. Marshals received information Ramos was in the Fort Collins area and he was taken into custody without incident at around 1 p.m. into the Larimer County Jail.
“The United States Marshals Service is thankful for the partnership of ICE/ERO and Fort Collilns Police Department in this arrest operation. A violent gang member and offender who committed a heinous crime has been brought to justice,” said Acting United States Marshal for the District of Colorado, Andrew Smith.
The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fielman told Denver7 if Ramons is convicted of attempted murder in state court, he will likely serve prison time in Colorado and then be deported to El Salvador.
