DENVER – Oklahoma officials have officially confirmed that a torso found in a dumpster in Okmulgee, Okla. in February was that of Ashley Mead.

The Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the remains’ identity Monday, and said the cause and manner of Mead’s death were still unknown pending toxicology reports, which are expected to be released in 4-6 weeks.

The father of Mead’s 1-year-old child, 32-year-old Adam Densmore, has been charged with first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

He is accused of taking Mead and their young daughter from their home in Boulder and killing Mead sometime thereafter. He allegedly dismembered her body, put parts in suitcases and scattered them across the country as he made his way to Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Densmore and the young girl were eventually found in Okmulgee, as was part of Mead’s body.

A preliminary hearing for Densmore is scheduled for May 4.
