Suspect in attempted robbery at Brighton Family Dollar arrested

BRIGHTON, Colo. -- A day after a man was stabbed during an attempted robbery at a Family Dollar in Brighton, Adams County deputies have a suspect in custody. 

Anthony Dennis Grayson, 42, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after reportedly attempting to rob a Family Dollar in the area of Pecos Avenue and West 72nd Avenue.Thursday afternoon. 

When deputies arrived at the scene they found an adult man with stab wounds. They were also "able to determine the responsible party was still on scene," according to an official with the Adams County Sheriff's Office.   

Grayson was taken into custody and the victim was taken to a hospital, where was later pronounced deceased, the official said.  

The identity of the victim has not been released.
