Second suspect in Thornton police chase, shooting arrested Friday

THORNTON, Colo. – A second suspect wanted by police following a chase that led to a shooting early Thursday morning has been arrested.

Jaime Allan Herrera, 22, of Denver, was arrested Friday for investigation of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and felony eluding, according to the Thornton Police Department.

Herrera was sought by police after running from a vehicle following a chase which ended in a crash near 56th Avenue and Worchester Street in Denver.

During the chase, police said shots were fired from the vehicle and an officer’s patrol car was struck. No officer was injured.

At the scene of the crash, police arrested the passenger in the vehicle, Cesar Alexis Pinedo, 20, also from Denver. He faces investigation on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated motor vehicle theft, felony eluding, and two outstanding warrants.
