DENVER – A juvenile has been cited for making unspecified threats to Byers Middle School, Denver police say.

Denver Public Schools said an email from the student went to an “unattended inbox” at the school, which prompted further investigation both by DPS Police and the Denver Police Department.

The threat, which police have not talked in specifics about, did not threaten any actions Monday, and there were no children at the school when it was received, a DPS spokesperson said.

Doug Schepman, a spokesman for the Denver Police Department, said the juvenile suspect was identified Monday evening and cited. Schepman did not provide an age for the suspect, nor did he confirm whether or not the juvenile went to the school.

“There is no ongoing safety concern,” Schepman said.
