Man shot, killed in overnight Aurora shooting

AURORA, Colo. -- A man was killed following an altercation in a residential area not far from the Cherry Creek Reservoir in Aurora early Saturday.

Officers went to the area of East Quincy Avenue and South Crystal Circle at around 4:25 a.m. on reports of shots fired and of people fighting in the area.

Once at the scene, police found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to Aurora Police Department spokesperson Bill Hummel.

“This is still an active investigation and on-going investigation and there are no further details to provide at this time,” Hummel said in a prepared statement.

No suspect information was made available.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once family has been notified.
