Man dead in Thornton shooting; suspect detained

THORNTON, Colo. – A man is dead and another man is in police custody after a shooting Tuesday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. in the 4600 block of 106th Drive. Police are treating the incident as a homicide, they said.

Detectives were still working to figure out what led up to the shooting, a police spokesperson said. The suspect in the shooting remained at the scene, and there were witnesses to the shooting as well, police said.

A police spokesperson said they wouldn’t identify the suspect Tuesday night, and said the victim’s identity would be released by the Adams County coroner pending the notification of his next-of-kin.

Police said there was no threat to public safety following the shooting.
