FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A jury has convicted a Fort Collins man for his role in the beating and stabbing death of another man in 2016.
The Coloradoan reports Matthew Tatti was convicted of the lesser charge Friday instead of first-degree murder for the death of Benjamin McKinley.
Prosecutors say 39-year-old Tatti and Anthony Horne beat McKinley while the two co-defendants were drinking with other transients inside an abandoned building.
Prosecutors say Tatti gave Horne the pocketknife Horne used to stab McKinley to death.
Horne pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2017 and was sentenced to 48 years with the state Department of Corrections.
Tatti's sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 25.
He faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
