DENVER – A man living in southeastern Colorado is wanted by state authorities for failing to register as a sex offender.

Christopher James Mixell, 37, is wanted on two separate charges relating to his failure to register: failing to cancel his registration at his old address and failing to update his registry at his new address in Lamar.

Warrants for both charges – sixth-degree felonies – were issued by a judge to the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office in March 2015, but Mixell has never been found.

He pleaded guilty in May 2010 in Oregon to encouraging child sexual abuse in the second-degree, and has several other charges, including assault, on his record in Oregon.

Mixell is described as a white man who is 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds, with blue eyes and red hair.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, call the Colorado Bureau of Investigation 24-hour tip line at 303-239-5732 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
