LONGMONT, Colo. — Police in Longmont are on the hunt for a murder suspect following a shooting in a Wal-Mart parking lot that left one person dead early Sunday.

Joseph Keith Anderson, 34, is wanted for the alleged murder of a 23-year-old man that took place just before 3 a.m. in the area of East Ken Pratt Boulevard and Zlaten Drive.

Anderson is 5-feet-10 and weighs about 200 pounds. He is bald and has brown eyes, according to the Longmont Police Department.

The armed suspect was last seen driving a black Nissan Murano convertible with a tan or white convertible top, bearing Colorado license plate DBQ-998.

That vehicle was found Sunday afternoon in the area of 120th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, Longmont police say.

Police said Anderson has ties to Littleton and Loveland.

Officials said the unidentified victim died of his injuries after being transported to a hospital. The victim’s name will be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

Police said there was no danger to the surrounding community. The Wal-Mart was open for business Sunday morning with one end of the parking lot taped off and police working the scene for evidence.
