DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – The person found murdered along the side of I-25 near the Greenland Road exit Saturday morning was identified Monday morning as a young woman.

The Douglas County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Shelby Weatherly, 24. It said her cause and manner of death were still under investigation.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is calling the probe into her death a homicide investigation.

It said detectives are following up on tips, but asks anyone who may have seen any vehicles parked alongside I-25 in that area between Friday night and Saturday morning to contact the tip line at 303-660-7579.

Colorado court records show Weatherly was arrested on Sept. 9 on a felony drug possession charge, and that she was given a parking violation in Denver on Sept. 14. She also pleaded guilty to trespassing and petty theft charges out of Denver last year, according to the records.

Callers to dispatch had reported some injuries on Weatherly’s body, but the sheriff’s office has not confirmed the manner in which the body was found.
