ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. – A man convicted in August of luring a 7-year-old girl to his apartment in July 2016 and sexually assaulting her was sentenced Thursday to a minimum of 24 years in prison.

Moises Godoy, 49, received concurrent sentences after he was convicted by an Adams County jury last month of second-degree kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault on a child and enticement of a child charges.

Adams County District Judge Thomas Ensor on Thursday sentenced Godoy to 24 years on the kidnapping charge, 16 years to life for the aggravated sexual assault on a child charge, and six years for the enticement charge.

Since they will be served concurrently, Godoy faces between 24 years and life in prison.

Judge Ensor also ordered that Godoy not have any future contact with his children.

Godoy was hanging out at a pool at his apartment complex in July 2016 when he lured the young girl back to his apartment by asking if she wanted to “see his pet duck,” according to the district attorney’s office.

She went along, and once Godoy got her back to his apartment, he sexually assaulted her.
