DENVER – Gunshots rang out along North Sable Street in Denver’s Montbello neighborhood around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, waking up neighbors and leaving three people injured.

Denver Police said the shooting appeared to be the result of an argument at a house party.

Officers arrived on-scene and found two men with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was shot in the foot and is suffering from non-life threatening injuries. The second man was shot in the abdomen and was reported by DPD to be in critical condition.

A third shooting victim later arrived at a local hospital, he was also reported to be in critical condition.

“I feel this party just got out of control,” a neighbor told Denver7 reporter Amanda del Castillo.

Neighbors did not want to identify themselves on-camera, but told crews they heard a lot of commotion overnight.

“There was a lot of people arguing before the shooting -- yelling really loud. Then the shots fired,” another neighbor said.

One resident said she heard more than 40 gunshots.

While on-scene Denver7 crews saw just as many evidence markers, including a vehicle with a bullet-hole through its back window.

“I know it’s Montbello, but it’s safer in this side than other places in Montbello,” one neighbor said.

Another resident told Denver7 they are worried something worse might happen.

“I have two little kids,” one neighbor explained, adding her 5-year-old son woke up to the argument and gunshots.

She said her son now has plenty of questions about the crime scene unfolding outside of their family home, “I don’t know if I should talk to him about violence, you know, here. I don’t know if he will understand that things like this happen.”

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
