Councilwoman Boigon To Enter Denver Mayor's Race

Boigon Plans To Announce Her Candidacy Thursday

Another City Council member is entering the Denver mayor's race.

Councilwoman Carol Boigon plans to announce her candidacy Thursday. She has served at large on the council the past eight years.

Boigon said she wants to work to create a robust economy.

Others running for mayor include City councilman Doug Linkhart, City councilman Michael B. Hancock, City employee Danny F. Lopez, James Mejia, executive director of the Denver Preschool Program, Independent candidate Michael Keith Forrester, Paul Noel Fiorino, Dwight Eisen Henson, Kenneth R Simpson, Theresa Spahn, Thomas Andrew Wolf and Eric Jon Zinn.

Mayor John Hickenlooper was elected governor Nov. 2. He plans to stay on the job until his Jan. 11 inauguration to avoid a special election. Deputy Mayor Bill Vidal will become acting mayor until the regular election in May.
