Commerce City Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

18-Year-Old Killed In Shooting

Commerce City police are searching for two persons of interest in connection with a shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man.

Ector Arevelo was shot at East 67th Avenue and Monaco Street Saturday morning. Police said the shooting happened after a verbal confrontation.

The victim was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he later died.

Police are searching for 21-year-old Gary Maestas and 20-year-old Matthew Maestas in connection with the shooting. An 18-year-old man named Gary Maestas was originally sought by police. He went to the Commerce City Police Department on Sunday and was cleared as a person of interest after an interview with investigators, police said. Police said that man was a different Gary Maestas than the one they are now looking for.

Police are still wanting to question Matthew Maestas in connection with the shooting in addition to 21-year-old Gary Maestas.
