Colorado State Patrol Promotes 1st Woman To Lt. Col.

Maj. Brenda Leffler Promoted

The Colorado State Patrol has its first female lieutenant colonel in its 76-year history.

Maj. Brenda Leffler was promoted to the rank Friday during a promotion's ceremony.

Leffler was a noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Army and National Guard between 1987 and 1997. She became a State Patrol trooper in Golden in 1993 and rose through the ranks.

At the ceremony on Friday, Capt. Kevin Eldridge was promoted to major and Cpls. Douglas Conrad and Shane Scovel were promoted to sergeants.
