Wyoming fugitive arrested at Capri Motel in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A fugitive wanted for forgery in Wyoming and identity theft and forgery Jefferson County was tracked down Thursday evening in Colorado Springs.

Police say they found a vehicle belonging to Jeffrey Hermansen, 30, parked outside the Capri Motel at 3033 E. Platte Ave. An officer watched the vehicle and waited for Hermansen to appear.

The fugitive eventually emerged from room 307 and tried to run when the officer made contact. He was quickly caught.

In addition to the outstanding warrants, Colorado Springs Police say they found Hermansen possessed five credit cards and a Colorado Driver's license that belonged to other people. When the motel room was searched, they found hundreds of pieces of stolen mail, multiple ID's and two guns.

One of the weapons was reported stolen from the Denver area.

When Hermansen was taken to jail he was booked on new identity theft charges in addition to the Jefferson County and Wyoming warrants.
