COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A woman held at knifepoint in a Colorado Springs apartment Sunday night was able to fight back, injuring her attacker, police said.
Officers were called to an apartment complex near N. Wood Avenue and W. Fillmore Street just before midnight Sunday.
Officers said that when they arrived, they found blood outside the apartment and an injured man inside the apartment's bathroom.
"The investigation revealed the male suffered a laceration to his neck, after threatening to kill the female with the knife," Colorado Springs Police wrote on their website. "The male was cut when the female pushed the knife backwards, into the male's neck, as he held the knife near her throat."
The man was taken to the hospital, treated, then arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, child abuse, assault and harassment, police said.
Investigators did not release any details on why a child abuse charge was included in the list of offenses. Nor did police say what the relationship was between the man who was arrested and the woman who was being held.
