COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police are investigating yet another stranger sex assault after a woman said she was answering the door at her home when a man forced his way inside, hit her, knocked her to the ground and raped her.
The attack occurred Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at a home on East Bijou Street and North Academy Boulevard.
Police were called to Memorial Hospital at 4:20 p.m. after the woman reported the stranger sex assault to hospital staff.
The woman told officers she was answering a knock on her door when a man she didn't know forced his way into her home, hit her and raped her.
She described her attacker as a physically fit Hispanic man, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with stocky build, short "spiky" hair, blue eyes and brown teeth. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and black Nike shoes, she said.
The Colorado Springs Police Department's Adult Sex Assault Unit are assisting with the investigation.
"This does not immediately appear to be connected to the other recent stranger sex assault cases," Colorado Springs police said on its blotter, but didn't clarify how many other stranger sex assaults there have been or why this one does not appear to be connected.
Earlier this week, a Colorado Springs woman said she was smoking a cigarette in her back yard when a man wearing all black approached her, hit her in the face, and pushed her to the ground. The man held her a knifepoint while he removed her clothes and sexually assaulted her, according to the police report.
She did not know the man and he was wearing a black ski mask that completely covered his face. He was also wearing black gloves, a black shirt and black pants.
That attack occurred on Monday morning, around 11:30 a.m., at a home on Diamond Rim Drive.
