COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police had their hands full early Friday when a man accidentally shot himself with an antique shotgun and the man's 19-year-old stepdaughter allegedly kicked an officer.
It all began about 2:38 a.m. when officers were called to the 400 block of South Hancock Avenue on a reported self-inflicted shooting.
Police learned that a man had accidently shot himself in the chest and arm with an antique shotgun, causing minor injuries.
While officers were investigating the shooting, the wounded man's stepdaughter, Kimber Dorsey, began interfering with the investigation and was arrested, police said.
As Dorsey was placed into a patrol car, she kicked at the arresting officers, striking one of them in the hand and causing pain, police said.
The wounded gun owner, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wounds. No one was arrested in the accidental shooting, but Dorsey was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer and obstructing police.
The officer who was kicked returned to work.
