Authorities say a man wanted for a 1990 shooting at Fort Carson has been captured in Detroit.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 44-year-old Maurice Crutchfield was caught Thursday hiding in a house on Detroit's east side.

The Detroit Free Press reports Crutchfield is accused of firing six rounds into a group people while stationed at Fort Carson in 1990. He was charged with conspiracy to willfully discharge a firearm as to endanger life by the U.S. Army, but U.S. Marshals say he abandoned his post.

U.S. Marshals say Crutchfield was using a fake name before his capture. Robert Watson with the U.S. Marshals says Crutchfield had been "alerted" authorities were closing in on him and that he had moved a few times.

It wasn't immediately clear if Crutchfield has an attorney.
