One person taken into custody following possible homicide at Colorado Springs apartment complex

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - One person was found dead and another taken into custody after a reported disturbance at an apartment complex in Colorado Springs.

Police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said officers were sent to the Tanager Meadows Apartments on Sandalwood Drive around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. They found one person unconscious and unresponsive.

Investigators believe the person died from trauma to the body, Miller said. An autopsy will be performed to determine an official cause and manner of death.

Police did not identify the person taken into custody.

Miller said investigators were at the complex gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. They do not believe the community has cause for concern, Miller added.

The name of the victim was not released pending notification of next of kin.
