McDonald's robbery foiled when employees run away

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Employees of a McDonald's in Colorado Springs foiled an overnight robbery attempt by simply running to the rear of the restaurant.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department blotter, the suspect entered the fast food restaurant at 8120 Voyager Pkwy. at 1:48 a.m. He wore a green hoodie, a baseball cap and a camouflage bandana over his face.

Carrying a plastic bag he walked up to the front counter and showed employees a handgun tucked in his waistband. He told the employees to "put the money in the bag."

The employees simply ran to the back of the store, police say. The suspect had to leave empty-handed.
