COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A masked man armed with a hammer and knife robbed a convenience store in Colorado Springs early Friday.

Police were called at 2:50 a.m. on a robbery alarm at the Diamond Shamrock convenience store at 5670 Palmer Park Blvd.

Arriving officers learned a man brandishing a hammer and a knife had robbed the store clerk of cigarettes and money from the register.

The man, who wore a black mask and dark clothing, then ran from the store toward the northwest, police said.

He was described as a white man who stood about 6 feet tall and appeared to be in his 20s.

A police K9 team searched the area, but couldn't find the robber,

It was the third robbery at the store in just over two weeks.
