COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police have arrested a man accused of shooting at Colorado Springs police officers and attempting to carjack a person at gunpoint on Tuesday.
After a widespread manhunt, police spotted 54-year-old Frank Goad in front of the Manitou Springs City Hall at 6 p.m. Thursday and arrested him without incident.
"He's a dangerous person, he could shoot at anybody and we want him off the streets pretty bad," a Colorado Springs officer told KRDO-TV before the arrest. The station said Goad has a long criminal history in Colorado, including arrests for robbery, drug possession and escape.
Goad's latest clash with law enforcement happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when Colorado Springs police responded to reports of shots being fired near Goose Gossage Park.
Arriving officers heard more gunfire, then encountered Goad and another man.
Police said Goad fired on officers, then ran away. He's accused of attempting to carjack a motorist during his escape.
He is being held on one count of attempted murder of a peace officer and two counts of aggravated robbery at the El Paso County Jail. His bond is set at $250,000.
