First of two suspects arrested in Colorado Springs armed robbery spree after cops spot supsect car

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After a series of three armed robberies in less than three hours, Colorado Springs Police arrested a suspect when officers recognized his vehicle.

According to CSPD, the robbery spree began at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday. The KS Barber Shop, located at 830 ½ N. Institute St, was held up by a white man with a handgun.

After that crime, police said the suspect was seen leaving a red Acura coup with Colorado license plate number 468-RXB. It was being driven by a second person.

Police said the next robbery took place at 1:28 p.m. A suspect matching the same description robbed the Dunkin Donuts at 6660 Delmonico Dr.

Elmer’s Market, at 404 S. Prospect St., was the third victim.

The red Acura was spotted by police in downtown Colorado Springs just before 3 p.m. Officers stopped it at the intersection of Nevada Ave. and Uintah St.

Officers said they could plainly see evidence from the latest robbery inside the car.

The driver, Clinton Coppock, was arrested.

Police said Coppock and one other person were involved in the three Monday robberies and at least two others, including a robbery at the Chief Motel on Sept. 30 and a mugging later that night on E. Platte Ave.
