Cluster of stolen mailboxes found during traffic stop

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A cluster of stolen mailboxes and a variety of stolen identity documents were found Thursday afternoon in a truck stopped for speeding.

According to Colorado Springs Police, Officer Dan Mariano first saw the truck Wednesday and tried to stop it but the driver didn't pull over. Officer Mariano was successful in his second attempt to pull the truck over, this time at Interstate 25 and West Fontanero Street at 1:26 p.m. Thursday.

Police identified the driver, David McKinley, as a "habitual traffic offender."

CSPD says they searched McKinley's truck and found it contained a cluster mailbox that had been stolen from a neighborhood north of Pueblo, identity cards, social security cards, financial statements and forged documents.

Identity theft was among the charges for McKinley's arrest, police said.

The cluster of mailboxes was returned to the United States Postal Service.
