AURORA - A band choreographer and coach at Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs is accused of having a romantic relationship with a student.
David Hurd, 38, is accused of having the inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office reports. He faces two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of obscenity.
According to the sheriff's office, the school resource officer was first informed of the alleged relationship in early February. Forensic examination of digital media and witness interviews was reportedly important to the investigation of the case and charges against Hurd.
Hurd was arrested on April 11 by the Aurora Police Department, on a warrant obtained by the El Paso County Sheriff. He was taken to the Aurora City Jail to be held on $50,000 bond while other officers conducted a search of his home.
The Sheriff's Office says there is concern that Hurd may have other victims because of his work throughout the country as a consultant and choreographer. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-390-5555.
