Colorado's First Ski Resort Opens Saturday

Wolf Creek Ski Area Open Saturday, Sunday

Colorado is getting its first snow storm of the season, and it's enough for one ski resort to open.

Wolf Creek Ski Area opens Saturday and Sunday with three feet of snow, three lifts and $33 lift tickets. Lift tickets for seniors and children will be $19.

Officials said the Treasure, Bonanza and Nova lifts will be operating from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. servicing beginner, intermediate and expert terrain.

Wolf Creek Ski Area is on Highway 160 between Pagosa Springs and South Fork. The ski area is about 250 miles from Denver.

Closer to Denver, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area and Loveland turned on their snow guns Thursday afternoon. Arapahoe Basin and Loveland typically open in October.
