When tragedy hits, Colorado comes together.

Join Denver's 7 on Wednesday, Aug.1 as we celebrate our statehood and our resilience during We Believe In Colorado Day.

August 1st marks Colorado's admittance as the 38th state of the Union in 1876.

But in 2012, this date takes on special meaning as we celebrate why we are proud to be Coloradans.

In times of tragedy and hardship, our state shows its strength. Being a Coloradan means joining together in unity and to prevail against adversity.

On Aug. 1, you can show your support for our state, our communities, our neighbors in Aurora and everyone affected by the movie theater tragedy and the wildfires by flying the Colorado flag and wearing the colors of our flag -- red, white, blue and gold.

If you want a T-shirt with the state flag, you can get one for free! Stop by 16th Street Mall, near Glenarm and in front of Maggiano's, at 11 a.m. Our morning show anchors -- Mitch Jelniker and Ana Cabrera -- will be giving away T-shirts. It's first-come first-served so get there on time!

And there's more!

Print a flag of Colorado for your kids to color.

Print this Colorado flag to place in your window at home or in a window on your car.

Nominate a 7Everyday Hero who you think is making a difference in our community.

Post a message of support for the victims of the theater shooting.

Send in your pictures displaying your flag, wearing your Colorado colors or any other way you're showing how you believe in Colorado.

And join us for a special presentation, Mike Nelson's Colorado: After The Fires. On August 1 at 7 p.m., 7NEWS Chief Meteorologist Mike Nelson and the 7NEWS team will feature some of the great Colorado attractions saved by firefighters.

Thank you for supporting our community.

We believe in Colorado and our proud to be a part of this community.
