Grand Junction Parks and Recreation is changing its training after a worker asked a breastfeeding mother to nurse in a bathroom.

Jessica Coleman said the request came while she was nursing her 13-month-old son at the Orchard Mesa Community Center pool last weekend.

Colorado law says a mother may breastfeed in any place she had a right to be.

Coleman complained to city officials.

Grand Junction Parks and Recreation agreed to change its training manuals and make sure all of its employees know the breastfeeding laws.

"I will continue to nurse my child openly whenever, wherever I happen to be," said Coleman.
