Boulder To Consider Ban On Disposable Plastic Bags

Idea Came From Students Involved In New Era Colorado

The city of Boulder may consider a ban on the use of plastic bags at grocery stores, shopping centers and other locations, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.

The newspaper said City Manager Jane Brautigam was approached by students with New Era Colorado, a civic-activist group, who want Boulder to impose a ban or fees on the use of disposable plastic bags.

"We have asked staff to begin looking into the issue," Brautigam said.

She said staffers would research the issue and get back to the City Council by the end of June.
