Bonfils Asks For Blood Donations After Shooting

Bonfils Blood Center In Need Of Type-O, Type-A, Platelets

Bonfils Blood Center is asking for the public's help over the next few days to replenish its blood supply.

A spokesperson said the blood blank has met the needs of local hospitals involved in treating patients from the deadly movie theater shooting in Aurora.

However, Bonfils is asking for donations on Friday and in the coming days from community members wanting to donate blood on behalf of the shooting victims.

Twelve people were killed and more than 50 people were injured in the shooting during the midnight opening of "The Dark Knight Rises" near the Aurora Mall on Friday.

All six Denver metro donor centers will be open until 7 p.m. on Friday. There are also mobile drives open to the public. Please call 303.366.2000 to make an appointment.

Bonfils said it is particularly in need of type-O blood, type-A blood and platelets.
