Body Found At Chatfield Reservoir Is Fire Evacuee

Deputies Believe Man Was Camping With Friends

The man whose body was found in Chatfield Reservoir on Wednesday was an evacuee from the Waldo Canyon Fire, deputies confirmed to 7NEWS.

Deputies believe the man was camping with his friends when he disappeared.

The Douglas County Coroner conducted autopsy on Thursday and confirmed the man's cause of death was asphyxiation due to fresh water drowning. He was identified by the Douglas County Coroner as 37-year-old Jason Gustav Stark of Colorado Springs.

Stark's body was found at Chatfield Reservoir around 7 a.m. Wednesday in the water near a campground.

Deputies and Littleton Fire's dive team were called out to the reservoir on Saturday on a report of a missing person, but no one was found, said Ron Hanavan with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
