It can be painful and embarrassing. An infection forming on your face and legs caused by hair growth and irritation.
Follicultis occurs when one or more hair follicles become inflamed. It can occur anywhere on the skin. The infection usually appears as small, white-headed pimples around the hair follicles.
Folliculitis is caused by an infection of the hair follicles by bacteria, viruses or fungi. Friction from shaving, sweating, acne, or wounds can cause folliculitis.
You can treat folliculitis at home by applying a warm cloth before shaving, use shaving foam, shave in the direction of the hair growth, wash with a cleanser after shaving and use an oil-free after-shave.
You should see a doctor for medication, chemical peels, and laser hair removal treatments.
