Albertsons Closing 5 Denver-Area Stores

Distribution Center Also Closing

Albertsons announced Tuesday that it is closing five non-profitable stores in the Denver metro area, along with a distribution center.

The closures will affect almost 500 employees, according to an Albertsons spokeswoman.

The stores being closed are at 1442 S. Parker Road, Denver; 14605 W. 64th Avenue, Arvada; 1750 N. Main Street, Longmont. Stores in Lafayette and Greenwood Village will also close.

Albertsons said the stores will close around the end of October. The company is working with employees to see if they can be located in other stores.

The Albertsons distribution center in Aurora will also be closing because there will no longer be a need for it. The remaining 26 stores in Colorado will be supplied by a distribution center in Arizona after the Aurora facility closes.

Albertsons is headquartered in Boise, Idaho.
