BAILEY, Colo. -- Bailey residents prepared to gather together Sunday to remember Emily Keyes at an event they call an evening of healing.Keyes was shot and killed last Wednesday at Platte Canyon High School by a man who took her and five other girls hostage before shooting Keyes and then turning the gun on himself. The candlelight vigil is intended to lift the community's spirits and give people the chance to express their feelings after last week's tragic event.
The vigil will be held at the Farmer's Union just outside Bailey, the same place where Emily's memorial took place Saturday.Residents said the vigil will include a bonfire, hot chocolate and an open mic period giving people the opportunity to say something about Emily or the tragedy.Thousands attended Emily's funeral Saturday to say good-bye. Sunday evening they gather together at the vigil to continue the healing process. The vigil is open to the public. Safeway and King Soopers each donated enough food to feed 2,000 people at the vigil.
