Mexican Official Confirms Roommate ID Of Dragging Victim

DENVER -- The Mexican consul general in Denver has confirmed that a woman who was dragged to her death was a Mexican national.On Thursday, a roommate of the victim told reporters the victim was Luz Maria Franco-Fierros, 49.Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with her torture death.
The body of Franco-Fierros was found earlier this week on a normally quiet urban street in Douglas County. An autopsy confirmed that she was alive when a towrope was placed around her neck and she was dragged behind a vehicle to her death.The Mexican consul general said Franco-Fierros was from Mexican state of Guerrero and was the mother of three children. She was formally identified through fingerprints.Roommate Cesar Gustavo Garcia Flores said she and Rubi-Nava lived with him in a Glendale, Colo., apartment and had argued in the past. Flores also said the woman in the photograph with Rubi-Nava that was distributed by investigators is his Mexican wife who still lives in Mexico with his three sons.
